1932 Chevrolet Pickup

Description:

1932 Chevrolet Pickup

Americans have long associated their social status with their cars. Perhaps that attitude began with the hot rod, a modified version of the roadster. The hot rod was the creation of young men with more time than money that hoped to compete with their wealthier counterparts. Ultimately, it was a hobby that captivated the heart of a generation. Hot rods got their start in the 1930's and 40's. During the Depression that gripped the nation, young car enthusiasts who had little money, but lots of time, began tinkering with their cars in the hopes of making them faster. It became a social statement and a visible display of a mechanic's automotive engineering prowess. The earliest hot rods were built in California. Often, these vehicles were loaded with parts scrounged from junkyards and built in tiny garages near Pasadena, Burbank, and Glendale. The desert salt flats of southern California provided excellent raceways for the new hobby. Most of the early hot rods were souped up Model T's or Model A's. These inexpensive vehicles were cheap to purchase, and parts were plentiful. Further, their simple construction made them easy to work on. But, most importantly, their lightweight frames and V8 engines made them fast. Extra parts such as fenders, running boards, and even the windshields could be removed to make the vehicle even lighter and more streamlined. -Thx To Bill's Backyard Classics

For consignment, a rodded 32 Chevrolet pickup truck with all steel for the body and fiberglass for the fender and running boards. Not your everyday pickup, but a rolling work of automotive art. A pickup like none other you'll see, that has had a ton of time put into the rebuild to make it a rodded truck, with all details paid attention to. A veritable who's who of parts manufacturers and now a unique piece that no one else will even come close to imitating!!

Exterior
Time to bone up on some of your rodding terms so stay with me while I give you the pitch on this resto-rod pickup. A single chromed bar leads the way between the encapsulated front frame rails but does little to protect the beautifully curvaceous front fenders that flank the long open cowled hood. A body matching radiator surround bathed in Arrest Me Red is fronted and flanked by a twin chromed support bar that stretches across the grille and supports a single chrome and red headlight on either side. These fenders C curve up and around the front tires and wheels and mate with a running board to aid you into getting inside with ease. Just above are the front hinged doors keeping within their original squared off design, and now sporting power glass. A custom fabricated visor, also in red, shields the front glass and has a round chromed mirror hanging off of each door sill right under the bottom of the glass opening. A rolled top steel bed, straighter than arrows, form the sides to the bed which is now lined on top with a electronically opening and closing beige canvas tonneau and on the inside with rough sawn oak boards with beige vinyl side liners and brown highlighting on the edges. On the driver's side of the bed floor is a concealed fuel filler kit to retain the smooth line of the sides. On the back, a duo of rectangular LED tail lights in thin bar form let those following know you are on the hooks. A rear roll pan has been integrated into the tailgate and holds a frenched in license plate frame. Polished lip 15-inch Rocket Strike wheels are wrapped in blackwall baloneys on the back and thinner tires in front and give a nice rake to the side view of this truck.

Interior
As we swing the doors to explore the interior we are greeted with smooth tan leather that has a tuck and roll diagonal pattern within the swoop spear inspired brown insert. A chrome handle opens the doors from the inside and we can see power window toggles are offered up. Interior seating matches the door panels and presents in a tuck and roll brown insert and smooth tan bolster bench seat. The dash has been kept simple but effective in the red metal and a curved tan vinyl insert in the center. The area of the dash holds a bevy of AutoMeter antique white face gauges with black pointers and lettering. Looking upward we are met with a brown broadcloth headliner with chrome ribs and a package shelf butted up against the windshield. This brown carries down the back of the cab and wraps around the rear of the seat and clean tan carpet floods the floors and seen in this field are chrome trimmed foot pedals. (I told you they left no stone unturned!)

Drivetrain
Within the engine bay is a 350ci Chevrolet engine in black blocked V8 format. Simple but very effective all in either black, polished aluminum or chrome, it is a sight to behold. Feed the voracious appetite of the mill is an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor perched atop an aluminum intake manifold. On the back is a TH350 3-speed automatic tranny, and a 3.55 positraction 8-inch Ford rear axle spins the tires at will.

Undercarriage
You would expect nothing less and if you purchase this truck you might want to get a full-scale mirror to go along with it as the undercarriage is as souped up as the topside. Here we see a boxed frame rolling chassis and it is just beautifully appointed in more Arrest Me Red. Braking is handled by discs in the front and drums in the rear which slow this righteous rod down swimmingly. A Mustang II style front suspension with tubular control arms are on front, and in back, a ladder bar rear suspension with coil overs. Providing the exhale are block hugger headers in a silver color that feeds down to dual exhaust and includes Glasspack styled mufflers.

Drive-Ability
A driver for sure, literally a rolling work of art, and a head turner that they can hear you coming from a mile away! Excellent handling, braking, acceleration and all functionalities are working perfectly. I did not want to get out, it was that good.

Just a great overall presentation that was painstakingly built which now yields a "frame-able" work of garage bling that you could charge admission to view inside your garage. Waiting patiently for you in the South wing of our Hallowed halls...a show stopper, eye catcher and a daily driver if you so desire.
