1983 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
It started with a simple idea: a few car chassis fitted with hand-built beds to help carry materials around a booming car factory. Before long, millions of Chevrolet pickups were woven into the fabric of a fast-growing country. Chevy trucks tackled the toughest jobs on farms and in the fields; hauled tools and lumber to the burgeoning suburbs; and carried families and friends into and out of the wilds for well-earned vacations.
For consignment, a 1983 Chevrolet pickup truck that has been the beneficiary of being restored from the ground up. A spicy 383ci small block V8 mill, built turbo 350 transmission with a performance stall converter, a snappy 2 tone paint job and a completely new interior. Let's just say have a look and I'm sure you will be impressed as I was, and definitely had a yearning to look into this truck deeper.
Exterior
Classic Chevrolet trucks from the 80's are quite the hot item these days. Any classic truck is for that matter, but truth be told, it's the boxy retro look that people are after, and this truck is the epitome of that design. A straight horizontal ribbed grille with its stacked inset headlights and parking light setup just below, and on this example, a body matching turquoise separation bar leading to the gold bow tie in the center. Shiny and mirror-like would best describe the bumper below. This beautiful setup fronts a steel cowl induction hood and straight steel with well minded gaps, all bathed in deep 2 tone GM White and Hyundai Turquoise. Dual gold pinstripes surround the central white with the turquoise above and below to grab you and make you move closer! Good chrome attachments are on the doors in the form of mirrors, and handles. All glass surrounds front and rear have shiny trimmings and the drip rails above the doors have been shaved off for a much sleeker look. The short bed version is covered with a tan tonneau canvas bed cover, and underneath is bed with a sprayed-in liner and much larger than stock wheel tubs. You will have to inspect closely on this truck to find any real faults as a really nice job on the restoration has been performed. Polished 15-inch Weld Draglite wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped in 215/75 rubber in the front and gigantic 29x15.5 meats in the rear.
Interior
The wonderful restoration continues with the nicely padded plastic and vinyl door panels. Smooth plastic in tan with shiny cranks and door releases front these panels with padded dark brown door pulls and clean tan carpeting finishing off the bottom. Slipping inside, a newly covered bench welcomes us and two other passengers if needed. This bench is covered in a saddle leather with a nice tuck and roll pattern on the lower cushion that flows up the seat back and top dead center of the seat back is a Bowtie embroidered into the seat. Smooth dark brown bolsters and piping set the saddle off nicely. The original tan dash with shiny showroom like bezeled Dolphin gauges is in front of the leather wrapped billet style steering wheel. Mounted within the dash we also see an AM/FM/CD stereo and controls for the Vintage heat and A/C system. Dark brown padding finishes the top of the dash while white painted steel down low provides the perfect contrast. Tan carpeting for the floods the floors and on the hump is a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter in a small console. Above is a tan felted headliner hanging tightly and proud.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is simply put: "eye candy" in the form of a consignor-stated 383ci V8 stroker. This mill sports aluminum heads, is stuffed with a solid lifter camshaft, a mirror polished intake and a QuickFuel 4-barrel carburetor. This all works together to create a consignor stated 500hp. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with a 3400rpm stall converter is on back along with a Ford 8" spooled 4.10 rear axle. Also seen are shiny headers and totally polished bolt ons abounding throughout including the March serpentine pulley system. Smoke 'em if you got 'em!
Undercarriage
Not to be outdone by the topside, the undercarriage appears to have never seen bad weather, and is also fully restored. A powder coated frame provides the backbone for rust free steel floors which have been coated in Raptor liner. The front, independent coil springs are on, and the rear has leaf springs with Caltrac bars. We note a fully rebuilt suspension front and rear along with the rear leaf springs being relocated inboard of the frame to allow for the huge rear tires. Power disc brakes are on front, and power drums for the rear. Hooker headers feed a shiny Flowmaster exhaust with chrome rectangle tips that exit just in front of the rear wheels. We note a hydroboost system for the brakes along with all new lines and hoses.
Drive-Ability
Firing this truck up, you will be met with a surprising roar as it is stated by the consigner it will put out 500hp on high test pump gas. It certainly accelerates smoothly and quickly, stops on a dime and cruises very nicely to boot. All functions were working just perfectly.
A fine overall restoration job and showing near showroom for the exterior and interior along with plenty of custom touches. The new engine is all blinged out, and the engine bay is simply...well fabulous! I could use my pickup line right now, but I digress, and will just say a classic truck will not get any better in our hallowed halls than this baby. Ready to haul anything, even some serious ass!
