We have photos of the complete body off frame rotisserie restoration. This car was taken down to a bare shell and a bare frame then completely restored to show quality. It is a genuine Super Sport with a 409 motor and a 4-speed!
EXTERIOR: Built in California, the body is exceptionally clean. We have photos showing it taken to a bare body shell and the metal all looked solid. It is straight, there's no rust, bubbles, or damage. The doors click shut even with the windows rolled up. Repainted its original Ermine White color and is polished to a smooth glossy finish. It looks like all the trim has either been replaced or restored. Being a Super Sport, it has the machine turned trim going down the sides and on the tail panel. This one is dressed up with a rear antenna, dual mirrors, and rocker moldings. It looks to me like all the glass was replaced. Weatherstrips and seals are new too. Right away you'll notice the lowered stance and it is sitting on new 15 inch painted rims with poverty hubcaps. They are wearing new BFGoodrich radial red line tires. It's a perfect match to the red interior.
INTERIOR: The interior was literally gutted to a bear shell also. They put sound deadener on the floors it has all new wiring harness with an upgraded fuse block. A reproduction interior from carpet to headliner was installed: red carpet, upholstery, door panels, armrests, rear shelf and headliner. It's a factory bucket seat car, the cushions have been replaced. Rare 1962 center console and SS bezel around the correct shifter. Upgraded with some Dakota Digital gauges including a tachometer. It also has a custom tilt column with a custom steering wheel. A retro stereo fits right in the factory location. Upgraded with red seat belts in front and embroidered mats.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It was all apart and restored, it's detailed and looking sharp. The star of the show is the 409 motor with a GM dual quad and two Edelbrock carbs. Upgraded Pertronix ignition system. Upgraded aluminum radiator and overflow bottle, correct shroud, and new clutch fan. New alternator, the battery is properly secured and has a disconnect switch. It features power steering and an upgraded power brake system with a dual reservoir master cylinder. The metal surfaces are painted nicely.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted smooth, gloss white. Inside is rust free metal with a gray and white spatter finish. The wiring and weatherstrip were replaced.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame and flipped on a rotisserie. Underneath is completely rust free metal painted gloss white just like the car. The entire chassis was disassembled, rebuilt, and painted black. All the front and rear suspension was completely rebuilt. The steering is all rebuilt. The brake system was all rebuilt and upgraded with disc in front. E-brake cables are hooked up. It has a new factory type dual exhaust system that runs neatly along the frame. New fuel system. Looking up at the motor it is clean Chevy orange, the starter is new. It has a T10 4-speed trans.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and spent $3,958 getting it dialed in. We replaced the water pump, installed progressive linkage on the carbs, tuned the carbs, set the timing, shimmed the starter, fixed the reverse lights, adjusted the shifter, repaired the horns, centered the steering wheel, installed a new glovebox liner, repaired fuel gauge, rewired the wiper motor, installed the rear springs correctly, had a front end alignment done, repaired the brake lights and adjusted the brakes.
The look turned me on, the quality impressed me. Buy a real SS, have it rotisserie restored and let me know in a year or two when it's done if you have less than $150,000 in it. Or hit the buy it now and save a lot of money and time!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
