Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/ Austin is proud to present this 1999 Ford Mustang Cobra in Ebony. In 1993, Ford decided to unveil a new mustang, one that would set a modern precedence for performance and so the SVT Cobra was born. In 1999 Ford redesigned the Mustang using the new Edge design language that focused on surface tension by adding creases to soft aerodynamic shapes, essentially combined intersecting arcs. This led to a very aggressive style for the mustang. For the first time independent rear suspension had been fitted to a mustang, which changed the route of the exhaust pipes, forcing them to go under the axle which provided a unique look compared to the base and GT models. Power is delivered via the DOHC 4.6-liter V-8 that was factory rated at 320 horsepower and 317 ft lbs. of torque to the rear wheels, all passing through a Tremec 45 five-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential. SVT-specific suspension components consist of linear-rate springs, gas-pressurized front struts, and rear shocks. The stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes with Cobra-branded calipers up front, and the car is equipped with a traction control system. The cabin features articulated front sport seats upholstered in Dark Charcoal leather with gray suede inserts and Cobra-embroidered seat backs. Amenities include a power-adjustable driver seat, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, and a factory Mach 460 audio system. The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, an SVT-branded tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, oil temperature and coolant temperature. With only 1,755 Ebony SVT Cobra made in 1999, this Cobra is one rare pony!
