2001 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Corvette didn't always call Kentucky home, however, in 1953 the first 300 were built by hand in Flint, Michigan, just after General Motors unveiled the Corvette as a "dream car" in the Motorama show in New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel. The following year, production moved to St. Louis. In June of 1981, Corvette production transferred from St. Louis to Bowling Green, Kentucky. GM began production of the esteemed Corvette in Bowling Green in 1981, and the facility has remained the exclusive home of the Corvette for over 30 years. Known around the world as America's sports car, the Corvette exemplifies the definition of innovation.
For consignment, a 2001 Corvette coupe with a removable roof section and striking pewter paint. With over 60 models representing nearly every year, this is only the model from the year 2001 to presently grace our Hallowed Halls! An original unmolested car, played with, then neatly put away for the next time, we now have a low, low mileage, (52,301 title confirmed), car that has led a good life, and is now offered for another's enjoyment.
Exterior
Near perfect Light Pewter Metallic fiberglass is draped over the high-performance chassis of this car. Hidden headlights and integrated bumpers provide the aero package that can whisk you down the highway with just a touch of the throttle. A glass see-through roof with a notable crack, (fret not as a body color matching hardtop is located in the hatch), is easily removable to provide an open air driving experience, and large greenhouse, (it's a gas!), rear glass is seen for the roofline. This style Corvette wins the award for best rear styling with the round embedded tail lights, and the quad exhaust piercing out the center of the integrated rear bumper. Mirror polished 17-inch 5 spoke wheels are upfront and 18-inchers are in the rear with all shod in staggered blackwall rubber from 2015.
Interior
Sporty Ebony leather buckets grab you as you take a seat inside the cockpit. Black door panel uppers, with nearly every power control one could want border these buckets. A black lower molded plastic with a large built in Bose speaker is under the curved pull handle/power toggle panel on each door. The leather for seats is in good condition with a few wrinkles and areas of aging but far from terrible. A heads-up display, along with cruise control, a power memory seat, power telescoping steering wheel all wrapped up in a curved dash that presents very cleanly. Black carpet floods the floors and is in very nice condition. An oversized glove box is conveniently located just behind the shift lever with the Selective Ride Control and Active Handling buttons sandwiched between.
Drivetrain
A well manicured 350hp 5.7 Liter LS1 V8 is seen with a front flip of the hood. This is fed by EFI, and a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission attached. The 3.15 limited slip rear axle configuration is on to handle the power this active mill produces.
Undercarriage
Extreme clean sums it up underneath looking very close to showroom with a touch of patina from just plain old enjoying this fine sports car. Fully independent C5 suspension is seen both front and back as are 4-wheel power disc brakes. Chrome exhaust tips are also noted.
Drive-Ability
An extremely quick starter, and runner. This LS1 V8 can push this car very quickly up to speed, and due to the comfortable interior, it is hard to tell exactly how fast you are really traveling. Overall, a good driving experience, and smooth shifting for the automatic 4-speed. All the power options are functional save for the passenger's side headlight which continues to make noise after it's closed, and the stereo sounds fab!
The ONLY 2001 Corvette currently in inventory, and this one is well cared for, has super low original miles put on. This was played with then nicely put away in a garage, well maintained, and is just a fun car to drive. Nothing like being low to the ground and taking a corner like it is not even there...Wild!
