Between 1939 and 1941 Lincoln Continental shared the same body design based on the Lincoln Zephyr. After WWII Lincoln ceased using the Zephyr name and the post war Lincoln was refined with updated trim, a new grille and walnut wood interior on the dash and upper door panels.
This 1948 Convertible Coupe is different than the Continental in that it no longer carries the bustle back look. The profile is more graceful with its sloping rear deck and quarter windows. This is a great car for touring as the trunk can carry more luggage. This car is all original with only one repaint in the 1970's. At the same time the seats were reupholstered, with very little wear since. There are very few blemishes to the exterior blue finish. The chrome is in good condition and the two-tier bumpers are straight. The interior upholstery is red leather with minimal wear and bound red carpets. The door panels are upholstered with map pockets beneath the arm rests. The door panels and arm rests have been left in original condition just to show the minimal wear to this car. All gauges, power windows and top are functionally working with a fully working overdrive and even the original radio works.
The 66,000 miles is believed to be original as the pedals show minimal wear to correspond with the mileage. The current owner has owned this car since 1959 and is evidenced by its phenomenal original condition. The original spare tire is still mounted in the trunk along with the original jack.
The V-12 292 cubic inch engine was rebuilt and runs smoothly and quietly at highway speeds. A great, comfortable roomy car ready for touring or weekend outings.
