At the heart of the build are the American Heritage Performance Package 4 cylinder heads. Paired with Moldstart M90 valve guides, which provide smoother, more precise valve actuation, and Ferrera titanium valves, the engine can handle higher RPMs and increased cylinder pressures with less valve float and greater durability in high RPM situations. Viton valve seals maintain a tight seal even under extreme conditions, reducing oil leakage into the combustion chamber and improving longevity. OEM lifters may appear straightforward, but their factory reliability and proven geometry ensure stable valvetrain operation at elevated power levels.
A C5R timing chain, originally developed for the C5-R Corvette race program, is significantly stronger and more wear-resistant than the stock chain. It maintains more accurate cam timing under high loads and at higher engine speeds, which means improved power delivery and more consistent performance across the RPM range. Topping off the valvetrain area, Katech valve covers not only provide a robust, leak-free seal but also allow for a cleaner coil relocation. The Katech coil relocation kit moves the ignition coils off the valve covers and away from engine heat, improving coil longevity and spark consistency, while MSD plug wires ensure maximum spark energy transfer to the plugs for cleaner, more reliable combustion.
On the intake side, the Varam intake delivers a more direct, freer-flowing path for ambient air, improving both throttle response and high-RPM breathing. This cooler, denser air charge helps the engine make more power. Meanwhile, an ATI harmonic balancer smooths out crankshaft vibrations, allowing for more stable engine operation and reduced stress on internal components. The Mighty Mouse catch can system prevents oil vapors and blow-by contaminants from entering the intake tract, preserving air quality and promoting cleaner combustion, which over time helps maintain performance gains and engine integrity.
Once the optimized air-fuel mixture has done its work in the cylinders, a set of American Racing 1-7/8"" headers paired with an X-pipe and Akrapovic stainless steel exhaust system ensures spent gasses exit as efficiently as possible. The large primary tubes and smooth merge collectors of the headers reduce exhaust backpressure and enhance scavenging effects, increasing horsepower and torque output. The X-pipe further balances exhaust pulses between the two banks of the engine, improving exhaust flow and creating a more refined exhaust note. The Akrapovic system, known for its lightweight construction and meticulous craftsmanship, reduces overall system weight and contributes to a broader torque curve and improved top-end power.
Finally, all these upgrades are brought together through an HP Tuners tune. By recalibrating ignition timing, fueling parameters, and throttle management, the engine's electronic control module (ECM) optimally manages the improved airflow and mechanical durability provided by the upgraded components. The result is a harmonious blend of responsiveness and raw power.
As with the motor, the rest of the vehicle was the recipient of quite the list of upgrades to ensure this Corvette is a performance machine through and through. Increasing driver engagement is an MGW short throw shifter kit giving every shift the notchy feel enthusiasts dream of. Furthermore, the suspension is comprised of AFE Black Series Johnny O'Connel coilovers with adjustable height, compression, and rebound. In its current configuration, the ride height is set close to stock. Riding on a staggered set of Forgestar F14 wheels (18-inch up front and 19-inch in the rear), this example is equipped with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 ZP tires in the correct factory sizes.
Moving to aesthetics and creature comforts, this Z06 has all the right stuff. C7 carbon side skirts and a rear spoiler add to the already aggressive exterior appearance while a carbon front splitter is included though not currently installed.
