1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
Production of the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia began in 1955 and ran through 1974. Over its nineteen years of manufacture, more than 445,000 Karmann Ghia’s were built. Once introduced to North America, production of the Ghia doubled, and it became the most imported car in the U.S.
Unlike its elder sibling, the Beetle, and its bolt-on fenders, Karmann Ghia's were a fully welded construction with the fenders being hand-formed for the final appearance. For this reason, the body remained relatively unchanged except for some lighting and bumper modifications.
This final year, 1974, Karmann Ghia is straight and clean. It needs a little TLC from the new owner, but nothing serious. The engine runs well, and the transmission shifts properly. It will make a great addition to a VW collection, or a great classic car for a college student.
