In the fifties and sixties, this car was featured magazines such as Rod Builder & Customizer, Custom Cars, Rod & Custom, and Car Craft. Often in more than one issue. It was featured in Car Club magazines and newsletters such as Swanx of Vallejo, Motorcade and The Wheeler of Northern California.
And it won time after time and was entered into shows like The Road Run, the Autorama, National Roadster Show, The Napa Valley Rod & Custom Show, Custom, Rod & Sports Car Show, and the Rose Festival Auto Show.
George Barris, a legend in custom car building, is quoted complimenting elements of this 1950 coupe while explaining what it takes to win a custom car competition.
Original owner, Dick McArdle, recently passed away leaving this legend alive at Atomic Motors. This is a one family-owned custom always kept in California and Nevada.
The car has a spliced-in 1949 Merc grille shell and a complete 1951 Olds front bumper and grille bar. 1956 Plymouth Fury side trim.
Neatly tunneled 1949 Ford taillight lenses are features in lower rear body paneling. Partitioned exhaust tips have been bult into the bumper. Scoops incorporated into the leading edge of the rear fenders and trimmed out with chromed bars from a 53 Merc.
