1935 Ford Model 50 Pickup

Description:

1935 Ford Model 50 Pickup

Hot rods first appeared in the late 1930's in southern California, where people raced modified cars on dry lake beds northeast of Los Angeles under the rules of the Southern California Timing Association, (SCTA), among other groups. This gained popularity after World War II, particularly in California, because many returning soldiers had received technical training. The first hot rods were old cars, (most often Fords, typically Model Ts, 1928"31 Model As, or 1932-34 Model Bs), modified to reduce weight. Engine swaps often involved fitting the Ford flathead V8 engine, (known as the "flatty"), into a different car, which was common practice.

This very special Model A Ford pickup has gone through a complete frame off rebuild with modifications. The original engine has been replaced with a 302ci V8, the interior completely redone and customized, drivetrain updated and a new bed finished with plush 2 tone gray carpeting making it a bed you can use for hauling along with taking a quick nap. Stunning paint, Dayton wire wheels and a photo album of the build will accompany this 34,469 non-verifiable miles truck as the title reads Mileage Exempt on this rodder.

NOTE: The vin data report for this vehicle shows the title as a reconstructed title, however the Pennsylvania title does not show that it is reconstructed.

Exterior
A nice application of bright dark red, how's that for a color description?, mixed with a peppering of chrome best describes this steel bodied, running boarded and fiberglass fendered 1935 rodded pickup. A few flaws and imperfections can be seen upon closer inspection, but overall the finish shows as show worthy. A red finished shield style grille leads the way with chrome trimmed flanking headlights and curvaceous fenders and the long running boards are the icing on the cake. This build is retaining most of its original look, save for some painting over chromed areas and extra bling on the chrome bumpers. This truck presents with straight panels, good gaps, sweet fenders and running boards, and a beautiful bed. Speaking of the bed, it's over the top with red painted sides and black vinyl tonneau, then a tuck and roll hobnail cloth was installed with dark gray smooth cloth providing the perfect highlights. We can't overlook the matching spare tire cover and red embroided Ford inlay. Highly polished 15-inch Dayton chrome wire wheels and staggered width blackwall tires ground the car and add some bling.

Interior
Bed matching hobnail and smooth gray two tone broadcloth covers the door panels and seats. The doors have a custom tuck and roll pattern and a plush armrest with shiny handles. Speakers and more red stitched Ford logos keep things interesting as well. The seats keep the pattern and material with light gray hobnail tuck and roll inserts and smooth dark gray bolsters and I'm sensing a theme here, again the red Ford logo makes an appearance. The dash is matching red, and has some real wood inserts attached for the glovebox and instrument cluster surround. White faced vintage looking Faria gauges are inserted into the cluster panel. A 4 spoke rally steering wheel fronts the dash and hovers atop a polished column and dash central holds the heater/AC controls. Nice medium gray carpeting covers the floors in the side panels and other toe kick panels and headliner are also matching the seat and door panel cloth design and look nice and tight. Not to be overlooked is the overhead console, replete with wood inlays and a JVC AM/FM/CD stereo.

Drivetrain
Gasoline fuels a 302ci V8 mill with dual exhaust and feeds back to a C4 3-speed automatic transmission. A Weiand intake and Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor feeds fossils and air to this blinged out mill with matchy matchy ribbed valve covers and air cleaner lid. A Ford 8-inch rear axle is on the back for tire turning and smoking duties..

Undercarriage
Lightly patinaed, but mostly rust free black painted steel is under this body and it is looking very nicely restored. The front end has been dropped and shows as a Mustang II style front suspension, and leaf springs are reserved for the back. Turbo muffler equipped dual exhaust is on and exits beyond the rear roll pan with angle cut polished tips. Power disc braking is on the front and power drums for the rear.

Drive-Ability
All is very well with this rodded truck and it performed well on the test track. Nice acceleration, good solid bias free panic stopping, and nice handling for a '35 truck. Fully functional with all items working as they should make for a fun hauler. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

An older restoration/rodding example, which is very tastefully done, and remains timeless. A head turner, this truck can be used as a hauler, as well have a secret life as a mauler!
