1966 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
The Mustang was introduced by Ford in 1964 and continues to be produced even today. It is the longest produced Ford car nameplate and is a staple of the American Muscle Car era. In the world of modern muscle you see manufacturers like Chevrolet discontinuing the Camaro so the Mustang continues to be an important piece of automobile history. They had a long nose, short deck profile and were developed as highly styled vehicles offered in a coupe, convertible and fastback body style. Of those the convertibles and fastbacks tend to be the most popular. In 1965 the Mustang was setting records, becoming the most successful vehicle launched since the 1927 Model A. In fact just 2 short years after being released the 1 millionth Mustang had been sold. This 1966 GT Convertible is a super clean example of one of these cars and was ordered fully loaded from the factory. The buck tag is still in place under the hood, the trim tag in the door and it also comes with its original order form. The body is in excellent condition and painted in Wimbledon White with a White power top which are its original colors. The power top raises and lowers with no problem but the car is typically driven with the top down and only in nice weather. It also has the Red side stripes with the factory "Mustang" lettering. The chrome and stainless throughout is in great condition and it has the luggage rack mounted to the deck lid. It also has the original style front Mustang corral emblem with working fog lights. The glass in it is all good and the front windshield is tinted. The car rides on its original style wheels with Red Mustang center caps and P205/70R14 thin white wall tires.
Under the hood is the cars original 289 V8 motor topped off with a 4 barrel carburetor. The motor has a very factory look with a majority of the components painted Ford Blue. The car runs well and is a great driver. Paired with the engine is the Cruise-O-Matic C4 transmission that shifts smoothly. The car was ordered from the factory with a lot of options like power steering, front disc brakes, and Fordaire AC with heat. Everything works properly with no issues. It rides down the road smoothly and all around performs very well. It has a great sound through the dual exhaust which is correctly routed through the lower rear valance.

Another special order this car received was the Deluxe "Pony" interior that was done in dark Red. The luxury "Pony" package included the inlayed running Mustangs on the seats and the upholstery in the car looks great. It has dual bucket seats on each side of the original center console. The console houses the T-handle shifter and feeds into the dash where you will find the adjustable underdash AC unit. The dash is all Red and the dash pad in great condition. Another feature of the luxury interior was the wood grain trim accents on the glove box door and around the original working gauges. It also has the original Rally-Pac tachometer/clock set up and the tach works but the clock does not. On the center of the dash is the original Mustang stereo set and aftermarket kick panel speakers were added. The trunk is nicely upholstered in the original style material and houses the spare with cover and jack set up in the Mustang bag.
This is a super nice GT Convertible that is a very solid and in great condition. In recent years these Mustangs, which have always been popular, are becoming more and more desirable. With so many factory options this one is set up well and would make a great addition to any collection.
