Description:

1995 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Short Bed 4x4 Pickup

"For decades, Chevrolet trucks were just called "Chevrolet Trucks," with only number designations to differentiate between light, medium, and heavy duty models. The name "Silverado" first came to Chevy trucks in 1975 as the top shelf, highest optioned trim of third generation Chevrolet C/K "square body" trucks, part of a turn that saw Chevrolet name several of their vehicle trims after legendary Old West locales. The name, taken from a silver mining town established in California's rugged Santa Ana Mountains in 1878, turned out to be so popular with Chevrolet truck owners that it was later adopted as the model name for all Chevrolet trucks beginning with the 1989 model year." Thx to LandersChevroletNorman.com

For consignment, a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 short bed 4x4 with lots of newer parts in a well maintained example in shining red that belies its age and mileage.

Exterior
Silverado wheels from a 2011 model absolutely work on this Cherry Red 1995 with the Z71 offroad package, broadcast on the side of the bed on each side above the newer red paint. The vertical face with the now classic stacked light adds some chrome shine to the truck while the black grille coordinates with the rubber trim on the bumper in a handsome design. The truck sits high of course, and chrome step bars shine under each door while black and silver trim travel the length of the truck, and it's all in remarkably good condition. The bed has been Rhino coated and is clean and the solid rear window is wide, allowing for great visibility behind. Two straight pipes exit the back under a rust free bumper and Chevrolet emblazoned tailgate. Try as we did, we could not find glaring exterior flaws on this truck's restored outer appearance.

Interior
Some custom red inserts and trim on the door panels which are otherwise standard molded gray plastic with the period plastic switches and carpeted lowers. New upholstery on the seats present in a red over gray pattern that adds some visual interest and a center pull down armrest doubles as a seat back for a third occupant. Patina shows on the steering wheel which fronts the standard dash of black faced gauges on a flat panel, easy to read and old school analog. The center stack retains the factory AM/FM/Cassette radio and simple A/C controls along with a storage recess for your garage opener, cassette tapes, or cigarettes. Some duct tape holds one section to the dash while the passenger gets a virtual picnic tray in front with recess for snacks and cupholders for cans. On the floor, the range selector emerges from the big wide transmission hump which is flat, so it serves as a footrest for the middle occupant. Low pile gray carpet is new per our consignor and looks great and the headliner has some indentations but is fully intact.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a clean 5.7 liter V8, fuel injected and backed by a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.73 gears. In 4x4 mode, power also goes to the 3.73 gears in the front differential. Power brakes are supplied with disc up front and drums in the rear and new brakes are accompanied by a new master cylinder. Our consignor states that the following are also newer items: the A/C, the starter, radiator, water pump, and that the engine recently received a tune up. Read on for items under the truck that have been replaced.

Undercarriage
Generally driver quality underneath with patina, surface rust, and just general evidence of being driven. Torsion bar suspension is utilized in the front while leaf springs carry the back. Our consignor states the front suspension has been rebuilt and so has the exhaust, including the catalytic converter, and a single pipe enters a stock style muffler then exits as two pipes out back.

Drive-Ability
We climb up the cab and the 5.7 starts right up and the smooth Michelin tires provide a relatively quiet ride which contrasts with our usual knobby tired experiences. The cab is comfortable and bright and the engine runs well on our test loop as the truck tracks straight and brakes on command. All functions work as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Our consignor loved this truck enough to, despite the mileage, restore common items to extend the life of the truck and have it look good doing it. There's plenty of life left in this beauty and, as a 30 year old, it would not be out of place in a car or truck show either! Looking for a short bed in red? This is your ticket.
