2003 Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary Convertible

Exterior
50th Anniversary Red drapes the exterior of this car. Exterior bits include heated outside mirrors, manual folding top with rear glass and defroster, halogen headlamps, and chrome exhaust tips, which are gathered together in the center of the rear roll pan. The Corvette cove with faux vent on the front quarter harkens back 50 years, and as the first Vettes were topless. The tan convertible canvas top is nod to those ancestors and is in very good condition. What's different from those days is the sharp wedge shape of the C5, a low nose leads upward to a rear deck lid that is considerably higher, giving the car a slightly raked appearance. C7 Z06 style wheels in chrome spark up the shoes and the original wheels will come with the car. Imperfections are limited to scuffs on the chin, out of sight, and it would be hard to find a Corvette without these scrapes.
Interior
Shale leather, a shade of beige, power adjustable high back buckets embroidered with "Corvette" name and 50th anniversary crossed flags await you and as newer seats, they're in great shape. Sliding in will put you into a cockpit with an AM/FM/CD sound system with Bose Speakers, dual zone electronic A/C, a driver's info center on the dash above the console, cruise control, and power locks and power windows. It's all in very good condition, obviously well cared for, right down to the tan shifter and center console showing only the slightest patina. A thick contoured rear windscreen is behind the seats emblazoned with Corvette and the crossed flags logo, a nice addition that will prevent your hat from flying off at speed. Beige carpet below is in good shape protected by fitted 50th Anniversary mats in the same hue, which is also found lining the trunk in nice condition.
Drivetrain
Under the reverse opening hood, we find the 5.7 liter LS1 fuel injected V8 nestled in a clean engine bay, backed by 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission and rated at 350 horsepower. The rear axle houses 2.73 gears with limited slip capability and power disc brakes are the only option for a fast, modern sports car, and this car has slotted rotors with ceramic pads.
Undercarriage
Clean conditions prevail underneath with very little road dirt, unmarred belly pans, and minimal surface rust. We note some oil on the right exhaust pipe and are not sure of the source. That dual exhaust included original equipment mufflers that emit short pipes to the chrome tips. Double wishbone cast aluminum upper and lower control arms, transverse mounted composite leaf springs, and monotube shock absorbers make up the suspension for the front and the rear.
Drive-Ability
Peering over that sinking nose, the cabin gives a great vantage point and good visibility to pilot this maroon missile and after firing right up, the car exhibited familiar 5.7 power, amazing grip and handling, and stupendous braking. And look, Ma, no shifting! It ran great and all was working well during our short tenure behind the wheel. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Just 7,547 convertible 50th Anniversary editions were produced so it is still relatively uncommon and this one is in very nice condition with great wheels, a windscreen, new headlight motors, and plenty more miles of smiles to deliver to owner number three. Will that be thee?
