This beautiful 1954 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn is a classic from another era.
Owned by 4 generations of one family. This car was purchased new as the prime transportation for the Kincardine Castle Estate in Auchterauder Scotland by the Boreland/Brennen family. The beautiful estate covered 583 acres of rolling farm and woodland just across the road from the famous Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Course. Kincardine Castle hosted numerous famous guests from the worlds of politics, arts, film, and military dignitaries. It was also famous for hosting regular low ground shoots for their guests. In the 1980’s, when the estate was sold, the Silver Dawn was shipped to the US by James A Brennen. The Rolls was stored in a heated garage at the Brennen’s Mains Manor Farm Estate in Poulsbo, WA. which has since become home to the prestigious West Sound Academy private school and the Chief Kitsap Academy High School. The Brennen’s enjoyed driving to Rolls Royce club events and around the NW. When Mrs. Brennen was no longer able to drive, she passed the Silver Dawn onto her daughter and son-in-law, the current owners, who have enjoyed outings to local wineries and around the Sound. It never fails to turn heads and cause people to stop and stare at its classic elegance.
Only 760 Silver Dawns were produced by Rolls Royce from 1949 through 1955. These were the first Rolls-Royce cars offered with a factory-built body that was shared with Bentley Mark VI and R-Type models.
This 1954 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn is an outstanding showpiece of the time period of seventy years ago. The vehicle has been reclad in a beautiful silver paint job that has been kept up well. Opening the front "suicide" doors reveals the leather interior that is finished in grey with red accent piping, and exhibits superbly. Opening the standard rear doors unveils the easy access to the matching leather passenger area and the beautiful solid wood, folding tray-tables built into the back of the front seats. This "late model" Silver Dawn comes in the "Big Boot" design and has a massive cargo area out back. The boot... er... trunk, is finished with wall-to-wall carpeting and includes an assortment of goods for the vehicle including manuals, tools, picnic basket, and even a Rand-McNally Atlas of the States to help in old-school navigation.
Up front, the 6-cyl, 4.6L motor resides in a very clean and clutter-free engine bay. The engine fires at the push of the button and runs strong throughout its range. The mated transmission delivers smooth gear changes and the suspension is tranquil and fluid.
This 1954 Silver Dawn is a stately vehicle with right-hand drive and will make a wonderful addition to an estate collection or an investors stable.
