1958 Chevrolet Impala |
Body off frame restored! #s match motor, factory colors and reproduction Tri-Color interior. Upgraded with a 4-speed, power disc brakes, lowered suspension and staggered size wheels. 1 year only design, it's a beautiful car. More desirable today than ever before!
EXTERIOR: Every panel of this car has intriguing style! It's a clean, straight body that fits nice. Repainted its original color: Cashmere Blue and it has a glossy finish. The chrome and trim are straight and shiny and there's no shortage of trim! It even has optional dual antenna. New windshield and weatherstrips. Correct T-3 headlights. It's squatted down and looking really sharp on some staggered size Billet Specialties wheels, they're 18s in front, 20s in back.
INTERIOR: It's just as stylish on the inside. Restored nicely. Down on the floor is new carpet, embroidered mats and the best part: a 4-speed! Blue seatbelts were added front and back. The seats were reupholstered in the correct multi color upholstery. New reproduction door panels, armrests, and handles. The dash and metal trim were repainted. The headliner was replaced, the dome lights work.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a correct 1958 348 motor with factory correct tri-power carbs. It also has the big air cleaner, glass bowl fuel filter, stock valve covers. All three carbs are functioning but runs on the center until you mash the pedal then all 3 open wide! It has reproduction hoses and clamps although the radiator is upgraded with an aluminum Griffin. It also has a new power brake booster with a dual reservoir master cylinder. The generator looks new. The engine bay and all the metal parts are painted very neatly.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted glossy like the car. Inside is all solid metal painted a satin blue with sound deadener and a new reproduction mat.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame, so the underside looks fresh. All clean metal floors painted semi-gloss black. It has a lowered suspension that's been rebuilt. The steering has been rebuilt. The brakes have been upgraded with disc in front, the rear drums were rebuilt, and the e-brake works. It has a new dual exhaust neatly bent to run along the x-frame. New polished fuel tank. Looking up at the motor it is spotless Chevy Orange with a black flywheel cover. It has correct starter and canister type oil filter. The Powerglide automatic was upgraded with a T10 4-speed trans, the shift linkage looks fresh. The drive shaft is rebuilt.
SERVICE: After our inspection we adjusted the throttle linkage, fixed the reverse lights, replaced a vent window knob, fixed the horn, adjusted the idle, repaired the speedometer head, fixed the door locks and adjusted the e-brake.
Chevrolet unveiled an all new body for 58 and it lasted only 1 year with the 59 being all new again. This 1 year design has been in demand and now more so than ever. This one is a great example because it retains its vintage charm while being updated to appeal to a younger crowd too.
