1992 Buick Riviera Hardtop
1992 Buick Riviera Hardtop The Buick Riviera is a personal luxury car produced by Buick from 1963 to 1999. GM's first entry into that prestige niche, the Riviera was highly praised by automotive journalists upon its high profile debut. While early models stayed close to the original form, eight subsequent generations varied substantially over the Riviera's thirty-year lifespan. In all, 1,127,261 were produced. The name Riviera, Latin for coastline, was chosen to evoke the allure and affluence of the French Riviera. It first entered the Buick line in 1949, as the designation for the new two door pillarless hardtop, described in advertising as "stunningly smart". For consignment a 3-owner 1992 Riviera with the 2 former owners being ROA club members, all original, 38,729 title verified actual miles, garaged kept, and well kept and pampered Riviera. Read on for more excitement of this personal luxury car sporting the rare Grand Touring Package option. Exterior It is hard to find fault with any of the straight steel panels and gaps that make up the sultry shape of this car. All panels are covered with crisp clean white, which is in showroom condition. All badging and brite work is in excellent condition including a full chromed trim line at the belt that encircles this car. Locking wire wheel covers are wrapped in radials with a classy thin white stripe on all four corners. Interior Swing open the wide entry doors and you will be met by a beautiful gray combination of leather and vinyl, with smatterings of wood burl trimmings. Doors also house a plethora of power toggles and buttons, such as power windows, power locks, power mirrors, electric trunk actuation, cruise control, and power seat adjustments, (6 way for driver). Beautiful leather and stitched vinyl buckets showing slight patina and some use, which just add character to this luxury car. These seats flank a gray and burl center console that houses the automatic shifter, and ashtray. As we make our way up the burl covered dash we note the digital climate control, Dynaride badge and AM/FM/Cassette stereo radio with seek and scan and 6 speaker concert sound system. A digital display is in front of the leather wrapped steering wheel. The driver can also set the twilight headlight sensor sensitivity to automatically turn on the headlights...now that's living! Bringing up the back of the cabin is one bench seat, but 2 distinct bucket seats with a center armrest provide comfortable seating for the rear passengers as well. Drivetrain A fuel efficient 3.8 Liter V6 with Tuned Port Injection is attached to a 4T60E 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. A 3.06 cogged front axle turns the tires. Things are very clean in this unrestored and factory correct engine bay. Undercarriage As expected very clean with minimal surface rust, and very sound structurally. It is amazing to see an almost 34 year old car present so nicely with clean flooring and unibody rails. We note independent Macpherson strut equipped suspension up front and in the rear, another independent arrangement, but now with a transverse leaf spring. Power disc brakes are bolted to the corners to provide the WHOAH factor. Drive-Ability A quick starter, and a smooth ride, (one would expect a sports car ride, but not this car...all luxury ride), good handling and bias free panic braking. All functions were working well including the A/C which kept me nice and chilly during this late summer heatwave. Just an A-1 sport luxury ride! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. One can debate the definition of classic all day, however the excellent condition, stunning presentation of the car makes it a classic. A quick starter, very smooth runner, and great driver, it will keep you occupied all day with all the switches, knobs and buttons for conveniences it has attached to it. And if that is not enough, play with the multi-function display dash to finish out your day. 1G4EZ13L9NU408872 1-USA G-General Motors 4-Buick EZ-Riviera Luxury 1-2 Door Hardtop Coupe 3-Manual Belts, Driver's Airbag L-3.8 Liter MPI V6 9-Check Digit N-1992 U-Hamtramck, MI Assy Plant 408872-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8 acres!).
